Hi.

My site is called InClifton.com and I am trying to make it a place where people can find interesting things to do in Northern New Jersey.  I have a lot of work to do on it but making some progress.  I hope to get a few good ideas from this forum.

Hi,
I just joined this website and therefore forum, as a beginning to getting my feet wet with citizen journalism.

I read an article from my local newspaper by a local professor interested in getting a group of volunteers together to start a citizen journalism website.  I have yet to hear back from him since I emailed and told him of my interest.

I have been researching citizen journalism and believe I can put together a website, but need to know more, any suggestions?

Examples are, would it be easier to at first build the website on a free hosting site like Geocities?  Where do I get my content for my website, etc.

I own my own domain and website (using Yahoo hosting) for my genealogy website, but that is not the same as creating basically a citizen journalism e-newspaper.

Hi I am Harriet vidyasagar from India: I co founded a city guide in 1989 in India that taught me life’s lessons. The little print city guide..unique in those days, still continues with the current owners in pretty much an unchanged format. I have moved on to a labour of love: http://www.outofindia.net which I started working on in 1999 and am currently working on a beta site womenofindia.net that will be formally launched in washington DC on the 10th October 2008. I enjoy photography and have many years of archived video documentation that I now (when I find the time smile ) need to re-purpose for the web.

In the years to come I hope to start an exchange programme for Artists Writers and photographers to visit India on writing/art/photo retreats in my village “samipge”.

And ....if anyone would like to see the photos of the OLPC (one laptop per child programme) in India, we have some lovely photos of the kids at the pilot project outside Mumbai.

Hello, I am Onedia, I publish an online magazine in a small rural community that is primarily a resort area in the Ozarks. After writing several topical blogs I realized my small community of 2000 had no source of news about our town other than a small weekly in the next smaller town and a daily in the next county.  I launched the Bull Shoals Beacon in late June.  I am developing the site and have recruited 3 contributing writers and looking for more.  This community has about 40 per cent of the population over 65 and many are not computer savvy and if they are they are suspicious of anything like this.  The city officials seem to have real concerns about the publication.  It is at this time non profit and is done as a way to serve my community.  I am trying to provide details about city hall issues, profiles of businesses, people, and officials.  I want to recruit a youth writer from the high school in the next town 7 miles away.  Need a place for support, ideas, learning, and shared vision of citizen news.

Hi all. My name is Faye and I’m new. I’m not sure why I decided to join, I guess I thought it would be fun. I’m from VT, I’m a Freelance Writer and Copyeditor, I mostly work with nonprofits and although I don’t make crap it’s fulfilling and that’s good enough for me.
So I guess that’s it for now, say Hi if you want.

Greetings, I am an urban planner in Houston, Texas that works on rural and community development projects.  I must rely on community newsgroups and non-traditional media to inform the public, build consensus and promote projects.  I have worked on a couple of projects in the past year that through the j-lab website Ive been able to gain local, state and regional attentional for rural community issues.  I look forward to being part of the group.
